Pop up Box Mothers Day Card with Die Cut Flowers and Leaves

This is my first try at a pop up box card, I wanted to do something different for my Mum this Mothers Day so this seemed like the perfect choice.
I followed the instructions given on the Secret Life of Paper  blog for the dimensions and structure of the box. I have to say it turned out a lot smaller than I had imagined, that said if it had been a lot bigger I wouldn't have had cutting dies for big enough flowers to make the box look full. Obviously the given dimensions can be adjusted if you want to make a bigger box. One thing I would do differently to the instructions given would be to stick the decorative paper to the various box panels before assembling the box, that would have made life a little easier.

I then die cut the flowers from a patterned paper pad and from plain card and leaves from green card, I used adhesive candies for the flower centres and inked the edges of all the petals. The leaves and grass are die cut from plain green card, and the greeting is stamped onto a die cut shape. Flowers and leaves are all assembled onto strips of acetate using double sided tape and these are then stuck to the inside of the box again with double sided tape. The trickiest part was positioning the flowers and leaves so that they filled the box sufficiently but didn't cover each other up.
The nice thing about the structure of this box is that you can flatten it to put it in an envelope and the recipient can simply push the sides to open it up again.

Happy Mothers's Day everyone, thanks for visiting, hope you like the card.
