Ombre Ink and Vellum Birthday Card

Well it's been a while since I have posted on here and despite my best intentions of keeping everything going over the summer when I was traveling etc. I didn't manage it. In my defense although I didn't post any new cards on the blog I did manage to find a company to manufacture our own brand of Shaker Card Domes which I am very excited about and also bought some great new Christmas stock for the website so I haven't been totally lazy!!!

So this is the last card I made before the summer and it was a chance to try out the Hero Arts Ombre ink pads which were new in stock at that time. I had also wanted to 'do something' with vellum so managed to include that too.

The card is a standard A6 white card blank, I used the Pool to Navy Ombre ink pad with a Damask stamp to create the background. I cut a small section out of the background piece to give some plain white behind the vellum. The 'Happy' is die cut from gold glittery card stock and 'Birthday' is stamped using the Navy part of the Ombre ink pad directly onto the vellum strip.

One of the great things about these ink pads is that they are made up of three strips of color, so you can use them for ombre effect but also use them individually so my Birthday stamp matches perfectly with the dark part of the ombre.

Watch this video from Hero Arts to see how to get the best out of the Ombre Ink Pads
The finishing touch was just to add a few gold self adhesive metal gems.
