Gingerbread Men Christmas Stepper Card

Hi Everyone
I liked this Gingerbread Men stamp from Woodware as soon as I saw it. The stamp itself is quite long at almost 18cm and of course you will need a long acrylic block if you want to stamp the image as a whole.

I decided that I would use the gingerbread men as singles so used a smaller block and stamped them onto thin kraft card and cut them out - sounds like a big job but they are quite a simple shape to cut and the thin card made it easier, so it didn't take too long. Stamping them onto Kraft card meant they already had their main color so I only needed to color in the decorative elements. I quickly had a pile of cheerful chaps to work with.

I used Promarker pens to color everything except the white areas and used a Gelly Roll pen for those. I added some glitter glue to the white trim on the hats to give a bit of sparkle.

Having been given the instructions for a stepper card at a Woodware Retailer Day during the summer I decided to use this for my first card. I will give you the exact measurements as given to me, but of course you can adapt these to make any size of card that you want.

Red Card
  • Cut 29cm x 14cm, score it at 3.5cm, 6cm, 10.5cm, 14cm and 22.5cm.
  • Cut 14cm x 19cm.
  • Cut 7cm x 2cm, score it at 1.5cm, 3.5cm and 5.5cm.
White Card
  • Cut 13.5cm x 18.5cm.
  • Cut 13.5cm x 3cm.
  • Cut 13.5cm x 4cm.

Patterned Paper
  • Cut 13cm x 2.5cm.
  • Cut 13cm x 3.5cm.

So having cut and scored all the card and paper and stamped, colored and cut out your gingerbread men all that remains is to assemble the card and add some finishing touches. You can see from the photos above where all the pieces of card should be fixed, and the small piece of red card that goes on the back to stop the card from collapsing. I used single gingerbread men on the main part of the card so that the middle one could be fixed on foam pads to raise it a little and add extra dimension. I stamped the greetings onto the white card and added dots of glitter glue to look like falling snow. The card is constructed so that it will fold flat for posting. This is the first time I have made a stepper card and thanks to the clear instructions it was a lot easier than I thought it would be :).

Thanks for calling in, hope you like the card.
