Here's another Valentine shaker card, this time I switched to a more vintage, shabby chic style, with a rich red and gold color scheme. As I mentioned before our own brand shaker domes take the pain out of making shaker cards as you don't need to use any foam pads and once glued in place you can be sure all your shaker elements will stay inside the dome.
As always with this style of card there's a lot going on!
The base is a white 12.5 x 12.5cm blank card, with the edges inked with Tattered Rose distress ink.
I then cut a piece of white card 12 x 12cm and stamped this three times with the Scratches background stamp. Each time was with a different color ink, Terra Cotta, Topaz and Yellow Ochre and I rotated the card 90 degrees between each stamping. Once the ink was dry I then blended Topaz ink over the whole background using a foam ink blending tools that no white card was left. Finally I distressed the edges of this piece of card with a paper scuffer tool and inked the rough edges with Tea Dye distress ink.
For the shaker dome I drew round the outline of the heart shaped shaker dome on to a piece of parchment vellum, cut it to size, blended Tattered Rose ink around the edges and stamped the first part of the greeting in black ink in the centre. I then put red and gold beads into the shaker dome and adhered the prepared parchment vellum to the back of the dome.
I die cut a shape from gold card and adhered this to the background and adhered the filled shaker dome over the edge of the gold shape and the background.
I cut the stems off 4 red paper roses and 3 brown paper roses, the red roses have had a little glitter added to them with a clear Wink of Stella pen and the brown roses have been inked with a gold pigment ink pad. I die cut several leaves from dark green card and arranged the flowers and leaves either side of the shaker dome.
I colored 5mm natural, self adhesive pearls with a gold permanent marker and positioned them around the visible parts of the shaker dome rim.
For the second part of the greeting I die cut a decorative square of parchment vellum inked the edges with Tea Dye ink and stamped the greeting in black ink a small piece of lace and a red pearl finished it off.
Phew! lots to do but I am happy with the results, hope you like it too!
