I used a cream A6 blank card for the base, to coordinate with the small cream colored stripe in the tartan paper. I cut a piece of plain green card and a piece of the tartan paper both the same size approximately 14 x 10cm. I used an oval cutting die that matches the size of the shaker dome to cut an oval shape out of the tartan paper. I laid the tartan paper over the green card to create a guide as to where I should stamp the greeting to make sure that it is in the centre of the oval shape. I stamped the greeting in Watermark ink and heat embossed it with gold embossing powder.
To make sure that the shaker dome is in the correct position I put the die cut tartan paper over it and positioned it on the card, then carefully lifted the paper off and used a pencil to mark where the shaker dome should be. I poured a pile of the Soft Snowdrift chunky glitter on top of the stamped greeting, glued around the rim of the shaker dome and fixed it to the green card using the marks that I had made.
Once the glue on the shaker dome was dry I used double sided tape to fix the tartan paper over the shaker dome. I used the same size oval die along with the one a size bigger to die cut a frame from matt gold card and glued this over the shaker dome.
To make the poinsettia I used a die cutter to cut petals from red and green card, layered them up and glued them together and used self adhesive gold metal gems in the centre. I colored a page from an old book with Pine Needles distress ink, then die cut two holly branches from it. The poinsettia is fixed using a 3mm adhesive foam pad so that it can spread over the shaker dome and the holly branches are glued in position underneath the poinsettia.
I like the traditional color scheme for this card and you can't beat a bit of tartan for a Christmas card! I hope you like it too, please leave a comment to let me know what you think.
