Hand Made Thanks Card with Micro Glaze Resist Stencilling and Distress Oxides

Hi everyone, the last stencil card of the series and yet another different technique! Stencils have to be such good value with all the different things you can do with them. For this card I used Tim Holtz Distress Micro Glaze to create the areas that would resist the ink, Distress Oxide inks and two stencils.

Cut a piece of white card 13.75 x 9.5cm, take your first stencil and position it on the card, using a foam ink blending tool, dip it in the Micro Glaze rub it on your craft mat to spread the glaze out a little as you only need a very thin layer each time, then work the blending tool over the stencil or part of the stencil that you want to use. For this look I only used parts of the stencil each time and positioned it in different places. Put some ink down on your craft sheet and spritz with water then dip and drag the card through the ink, you can do this one colour at a time or use multiple colours. I used six different colours altogether and started with oranges and yellows. It doesn't matter if you don't cover the whole card with ink at this stage as you will repeat this process a few times and your card will gradually be covered.
Dry the ink with a heat gun and then repeat the process this time with the other stencil. You will see that the areas that have Micro Glaze on don't pick up any ink, when you put Micro Glaze over dried ink that ink then becomes waterproof so when you add more ink it won't stick to those parts, this way you can put down layers of colour without them all mixing up. Keep repeating the process until you are happy with your stencils and colours, the great thing about this technique is that there is no right and wrong just do what you like!
Ink around the edges of the card using several colours to blend with the colours that are close to the edges.
Layer the panel on to coloured card and mount on an A6 blank card. It just needs a simple die cut sentiment to finish it off, attach it with adhesive foam pads to add some dimension.
Please note that as the Micro Glaze is waterproof you can't wash it off with water, it needs to be removed with alcohol, I found make up remover wipes worked well.
